Surf CityCAPITOL RECORDS DIGITAL REISSUE

1963 — Jan & Dean's third album for Liberty Records.

Surf City reached the Top 30 (Cash Box) and Top 40 on the Billboard album charts, featuring two major hit singles, three original compositions (co-written by Berry), and a series of covers with a "city" theme.

The album marked the beginnings of the Jan Berry / Brian Wilson / Roger Christian creative relationship.

This LP was also notable for Berry's lush arrangements for brass, woodwinds. and strings . . . a style that would help define his later and more famous productions.

HIT SINGLES: Surf City (#1), Honolulu Lulu

Arranged and Produced by Jan Berry for Screen Gems, Inc.

DIGITAL LINER NOTES: Jan Berry and Brian Wilson begin writing songs together. Jan & Dean take Surf Music to #1 from coast to coast, and get their own television show. Harmonizing with the Matadors.
