Filet of SoulCAPITOL RECORDS DIGITAL REISSUE

1966 — Jan & Dean's thirteenth album for Liberty Records.

Filet of Soul reached the Top 200 on the Billboard album charts . . . the first album issued by Liberty after Jan Berry's April 1966 automobile accident.

The LP featured "live" tracks from Jan & Dean's December 1965 concert appearances at The Hullabaloo night club in Hollywood. Also included were studio versions of "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)," "Dead Man's Curve," and "Gonna Hustle You." The latter was the first official release of the 1963 Jan Berry and Brian Wilson-penned progenitor of "The New Girl In School."

This album did not reflect Jan & Dean's original concept for the project. Instead, it was pieced together by Liberty after Berry's accident, and after Jan & Dean were off the label.

Arranged by Jan Berry and George Tipton

Produced by Jan Berry for Screen Gems, Inc.

DIGITAL LINER NOTES: Jan & Dean headline the grand opening of the Hullabaloo night club in Hollywood . . . then run afoul of Liberty Records.
