The Rip ChordsFamous for "Hey Little Cobra," "Three Window Coupe," and others. Written by Jan Berry and Roger Christian, "Three Window Coupe" was a Top 30 hit for the Rip Chords (June 1964). Produced by Bruce Johnston and Terry Melcher. The Jan & Dean version of "Coupe" (arranged and produced by Jan Berry) remains one of their finest album cuts. |
Jan Berry's 1958 CorvetteJan owned this classic rod when it was destroyed (along with the Berry home on Linda Flora) in the famous Bel-Air Fire of 1961. When he bought the car new in 1958, it was white with red interior. After the fire, Jan had the car refurbished and painted black. In August 1963, Jan sold it to Jim Blanchard, who eventually restored it to its original glory. Jim has owned the car ever since.
